Valley River Cavaliers King Charles Spaniels are located in a small Historic town in Southern Oregon. We are nestled in a hill side and have a wonder view of the grape vineyards, pear orchards and many mountains. We saw our first Cavalier at Denver Airport and we went up to the owner so see if we could pet her puppy. She was kind enough to allow me to hold the puppy. This little puppy kissed me and was the cutest dog we had seen. That was the breed that we wanted to have.
We researched all of the health issues in the breed and began to search for qualified breeders and after 10 months we found a breeder that we liked and wanted to have one of their puppies. We had to go and have an interview with them before they would place their Cavaliers with us. We all felt comfortable with each other and were given the opportunity to purchase two sweet girls from them.
I was asked why I did not show our Cavaliers and it was because I had not really thought about it. We originally just wanted a companion. I thought about showing and decided that I wanted to start showing. I went to many handling classes and took advice from other people who had been showing for years. Dick and I love this sport. We travel to as many shows as we can. This sport is great and something that we can do together. Dick loves traveling and helping me with the dogs.
When looking for a Cavalier be sure to check out all of the health issues that this breed can have. Purchase only from a quality breeder and be sure that their dogs have passed all of the testing that is needed before they breed.
